Future Salary Increase
** June 2026 – 6.2% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 2.3% Market Adjustment + 0.40% Internal Alignment Increase)
** June 2027 – 5.7% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the- Board + 2.3% Market Adjustment + 0.40% Internal Alignment Increase)

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
Job Offer and Background Process: Day of interview.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
1. A bachelor's degree or higher in social work from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency;
OR
2. A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency with at least 24 units in the social or behavioral sciences, AND, one (1) year of work experience or two (2) semesters of supervised internship experience in a family or children's services agency or related public or private agency performing duties of supervision, treatment, social work, or protective services to children.
If you are currently enrolled in a college or university and have completed the requirement, but have not yet received your degree, please attach your transcript and a letter of completion from your college or university to your application.
2) A valid California Class C driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class, is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class are required to use their personal vehicle.
3) Some assignments may require possession of a current passport to travel outside the United States.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be exempt from this process.
Qualified applicants will be placed on a three (3) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental applications.
