Buyer
The Buyer plays a key administrative role within the procurement function, with the primary responsibility of issuing purchase orders (POs) as quickly and accurately as possible once planned and firm orders are entered into the system. This role is critical in ensuring the timely flow of materials to support production, customer demand, and inventory goals. Buyer 1 works in close coordination with Material Planners and Production Planning team to maintain order accuracy and data integrity

Procurement Execution & Administration
- Promptly issue purchase orders based on firm requirements entered in Navision (ERP/MRP).
- Ensure accuracy of order details including quantities, MOQs, delivery dates, pricing, and supplier information.
- Process changes to existing orders (e.g., quantity adjustments, date shifts) in coordination with the Material Planner and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date PO records and documentation.
Supplier Communication & Follow-Up
- Send POs to suppliers and confirm receipts.
- Collaborate with the Material Planner on the delivery tracking.
- Resolve price discrepancies
- Escalate discrepancies to the Material Planner or Purchasing Manager.
- Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the Material Planner to ensure that planned order for Long Lead Time Materials and firm orders are placed in alignment with production needs.
- Change PO requests need to be updated, issued to supplier and unconfirm POs
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- PO Placement Time (speed of issuing POs after firm demand is entered)
- PO Accuracy Rate (first-pass accuracy)
- On-Time Completion of PO-related administrative tasks
- Responsiveness to internal requestors (Material Planners)

Qualifications
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities
Education:
- BA or BS (focus in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Finance) or equivalent experience.
- Supply chain specific certifications helpful.
Experience:
- Chemical buying experience a plus
- Prior Purchasing experience required.
- Prefer APICS certification and/or CPM certification.
- Strong ability to problem solves complex technical issues to correctly source commodities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of logistics.
- Acute attention to detail and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications and various market research tools
- Intermediate/Advanced computer skills (Excel, interlinked databases, ERP, MS Word)
- Understanding of MRP inventory systems and logic
Communication:
- Superior interpersonal ability to productively interact with anyone.
- Proficient verbal and written messaging skills

Physical Requirements:
Strength: able to use a computer extensively
Movement: general movement in an office setting with extended time relating to sitting.
Hearing: normal sound volumes in office setting, some exposure to production floor environment which may be loud.
Vision: able to read information, view a computer screen for extended time periods, and recognize hazards.
