Meet the team:
As a Research Scientist, you will be a key contributor to Dexcom’s R&D Engineering Team . You will be working with the latest cloud computing platforms and AI technologies to establish an ambitious research program supporting our mission, positioning Dexcom as an industry leader in health AI applications. As a thought leader in your field, you will work closely with other R&D stakeholders to design novel model architectures, develop evaluation pipelines, build concept prototypes, and present your work to peers inside and outside the organization.
Where you come in:
- You help identify long-term research goals as well as intermediate milestones for AI models and applications.
- You execute research that pushes forward the state of the art in AI domains such as predictive health outcomes, large language models (LLMs), and Generative AI.
- You directly contribute to experiments training AI models, including experimental design, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and preparing results for broader circulation.
- You publish research in top tier conferences and journals in the diabetes, health sensing, and technology communities.
- You prioritize research that can support Dexcom’s product development and data strategy.
- You implement new models, tools, and processes used by Dexcom’s core data products team, supporting commercial data product development.
- You coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams – including stakeholders from R&D, Commercial, Product, Legal, and Regulatory – to ensure that our research program is aligned with company strategy and meets the highest safety standards.
- You contribute to the evaluation and improvement of the safety of our models and systems, identifying areas of risk and proposing mitigation strategies.
What makes you successful:
- Your track record brainstorming new ideas or improving upon existing ideas in machine learning and AI – including designing and executing experiments – demonstrated by accomplishments such as first author publications or projects.
- You are an adept independent researcher, results-driven, and motivated to solve hard technical challenges including choosing impactful research problems and autonomously carrying out long-running projects.
- Your experience in creating high-performance implementations of deep learning algorithms, including implementing machine learning and statistical inference algorithms in Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.
- You love being on the cutting edge of machine learning and AI research and have a passion for Dexcom’s mission and health sensing applications.
- You have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an aptitude for leveraging data visualization software and techniques to tell compelling stories using data.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minmum of 5-8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience
