Job Title: AI CoE SME - Enablement
Location: Kingston
JOB PURPOSE
This role sits within the Data Science & AI Centre of Excellence and contributes to building Unilever’s AI capabilities. It focuses on applying data and AI best practices in digital programmes and sharing practical know-how. You’ll work alongside Data Foundation teams and the wider Global Data & Technology (GDT) community to help design, deliver, and improve AI solutions that are effective, scalable, and aligned with Unilever’s Responsible AI principles. The role also supports research into emerging AI trends, develops reusable assets, and helps grow a culture of responsible innovation through education, enablement, and hands-on support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with H3L+XOps and programme teams to incorporate AI best practices into digital products and services.
Provide hands-on support for AI model development, deployment, monitoring, and governance in collaboration with engineering and data teams.
Contribute reusable code modules, templates, and frameworks that accelerate AI adoption.
Help build and maintain shared libraries of AI assets, including curated datasets and evaluation benchmarks.
Promote Responsible AI by researching and building content for data-ethics guidance and regulatory standards.
Track and experiment with current AI research, tools, and methods (e.g., foundation models, multimodal AI, synthetic data) and share learnings with peers.
Draft concise technical notes, how-to guides, and upskilling materials to support capability building.
Co-organise and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and community-of-practice activities.
ALL ABOUT YOU
Curiosity
Data Science/AI background (preferably a Bsc in the field)
Proven coding experience in Python (ideally also with libraries like LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch), more languages like R, SQL, Scala etc is a plus
Prompt engineering experience
Understanding basic AI Governance concepts like privacy, bias, auditability, human-in-the-loop controls
Basic understanding of MLOps
Ability to communicate technical content to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to independently research topics
Collaborates well with others

In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London to house the employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars, Lever House in Kingston, Unilever House in Leatherhead and Graze in Richmond. We are creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment, purposefully bringing us together in our own Unilever ecosystem. Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
