Position: 1.0 FTE Student Support Center Tutor
Location: Harwinton Consolidated School
Reports to: Building Administrator/Special Education Supervisor
Starting Date: As soon as possible

Focus: To maintain a physically and emotionally safe, structured environment for students in which they are supported in learning to manage, control, and change problematic behaviors.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:

BA or BS from an accredited college or university as approved by the Superintendent.

Job Description :
Under the supervision of the BCBA, School Psychologist, and School Social Worker, major responsibilities are:

Provide a safe and appropriate environment for students experiencing persistent negative behaviors described as behaviors that are disruptive to the educational process in the regular education classroom repeatedly over an extended period of time
Work with the students in collaboration with the BCBA, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Classroom Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Special Education Supervisor, and building administration, as appropriate, to address and alleviate issues precipitating the negative behaviors.
Monitor students’ behaviors, collect and analyze data, assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
Help students develop skills necessary to successfully monitor his/her own behavior
Assist with academics as needed.
Participate in district professional development offerings as appropriate, such as PMT (Physical Management Training) Crisis Prevention.
Maintain the Student Support Center room as an inviting, conducive to learning environment.
Perform other duties assigned by building administration, mental health team.
Work day is when students are present in the building during regular school hours
