Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 3 years of experience with a PhD degree.
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong background in scientific methodologies and experience in areas such as LLM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire other data scientist on the team.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, analyze complex problems, and develop data-driven solutions.
- Track record of solving unstructured business problems with data science and translating results into impactful business/product recommendations.
About the job
The Search Vertical & International Data Science team is part of the broader Search Data Science team. We focus on enhancing user experience and driving growth across a wide range of search verticals, including local, travel, finance, sports, etc. We work closely with the product and engineering teams to shape strategy and ensure data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
The SVI mission is to provide vertical user experience. We support a range of user journeys such as local, travel, finance, sports, etc. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with multiple leads from Engineering and Product to uncover new product opportunities and shape strategic directions. You will have the opportunity to apply advanced modeling techniques (LLM, causal inference, machine learning) to solve complex business problems.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Frame and solve ambiguous business problems and be able to research and develop new methodologies to solve them when needed.
- Interact cross-functionally, be a thought partner and influence a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders. Communicate clearly and persuasively to influence leadership.
- Apply analytics, experimentation, causal inference and LLM to address business challenges.
- Perform in-depth data exploration to uncover insights and drive strategy.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to guide opportunities and prioritization.
