SUMMARY
Assists in the preparation of medications and provision of comprehensive pharmacy services under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to be successful.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use information from patients’ records to replenish medications and exchanges medications in patient care areas according to schedule.
- Collect medication histories from patients as designated by a pharmacist and provide discharge counseling
- Take inventory and analyze drug supplies, replacing outdated, deteriorated medication and depleted inventories.
- Set up, operates and maintains repackaging equipment and supplies. Package, label, and maintain proper records of repackaged medications.
- Complete comprehensive pharmacy projects assigned by the pharmacy manager
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Current registration as a pharmacy intern at an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Current registration as a pharmacy intern with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all area involved.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and prevalent professional demeanor.
- Ability to work with regulatory compliance matters with accuracy and integratory
- Collaborates effectively with a large variety of healthcare professionals for the benefit of the individual patient or relevant group.
