SUMMARY

Assists in the preparation of medications and provision of comprehensive pharmacy services under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use information from patients’ records to replenish medications and exchanges medications in patient care areas according to schedule.
• Collect medication histories from patients as designated by a pharmacist and provide discharge counseling
• Take inventory and analyze drug supplies, replacing outdated, deteriorated medication and depleted inventories.
• Set up, operates and maintains repackaging equipment and supplies.  Package, label, and maintain proper records of repackaged medications.
• Complete comprehensive pharmacy projects assigned by the pharmacy manager

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Current registration as a pharmacy intern at an accredited College of Pharmacy
• Current registration as a pharmacy intern with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy

• Thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all area involved.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and prevalent professional demeanor.
• Ability to work with regulatory compliance matters with accuracy and integratory
• Collaborates effectively with a large variety of healthcare professionals for the benefit of the individual patient or relevant group.
