The mission of TPSS Co-op is to promote healthful living by offering wholesome foods, high-quality produce, and community resources, in a clean, friendly, co-operative grocery store... that you own!

Each staff member is asked to help create an environment which encourages respect, honesty, and trust amongst all co-workers and also offers the highest degree of service to each customer; each staff member is asked to help maintain the store image as an ethical and positive place to work and to shop. In addition, TPSS Co-op is committed to being an educational resource to the community on ecological, environmental, and food-related issues.


OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of and in coordination with the General Manager, the Community Engagement Manager plans, directs, and operationalizes all matters of the Co-op’s communications, member, shopper, and vendor engagement, as well as education, events, and community involvement. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Communications
  • Develop and maintain a consistent TPSS Co-op brand across digital and print materials.
  • Create newsletters, store updates, promotional materials, and the Annual Report.
  • Manage email lists and member communication channels.
Member & Shopper Engagement
  • Collaborate with department managers on marketing strategies, product promotions, and signage.
  • Encourage member participation and gather feedback to improve customer experience.
  • Analyze shopper behavior to inform marketing efforts.
  • Maintain the in-store member area and respond to shopper suggestions.
Vendor Engagement
  • Build relationships with vendors and coordinate in-store demos and event partnerships.
  • Share product feedback with vendors in collaboration with department managers.
Events & Education
  • Plan and execute TPSS events (e.g., Earth Day), school tours, and educational opportunities.
  • Represent TPSS at local festivals and community events.
Community Outreach
  • Manage donation requests, Round-Up campaigns, and local partnerships.
  • Oversee community programs such as food donations and compost collection.
  • Serve as a liaison with community groups and initiatives.
Other Responsibilities
  • May supervise Community Engagement staff.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A business, marketing, or public relations-related degree or equivalent successful professional experience in community outreach and development, membership management, or communications.
  • Knowledge of natural and organic foods and interest in the cooperative model are preferred
  • Skilled in marketing tools, including PR, writing, website management, and market research.
  • Experience with visual merchandising.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Initiative-driven, reliable, and flexible to work occasionally off core hours.
  • Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing requirements of the job.
Pay Range: $60,000 –$63,000 annually.
