Qualifications
Position Summary: Internship Program Overview - Midrex’s 2026 Summer Internship Program offers an immersive assignment to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a people centric organization. Midrex offers a 20-40 hour per week, paid internship that begins with an orientation in June and concludes in early August.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The internship will consist of a project-based assignment with the following responsibilities.
- Assist in designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments for ongoing R&D projects.
- Contribute to literature reviews to inform project directions.
- Collect and interpret data, identifying trends and making recommendations based on your findings.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation of research activities.
- Maintain a well-organized lab notebook and assist in maintaining lab equipment and supplies.
Potential Areas of Learning:
- Mentorship from senior R&D staff and allow you to apply your academic knowledge to real-world problems.
- Application of engineering principles and knowledge of process flow diagram, mass & energy balance, and P&ID.
- Development of critical thinking skills and ability to evaluate complex data, identifying patterns, and making informed, data-driven decisions.
- Development of communication skills through collaboration with R&D and process teams, and presentation to peers and senior R&D staff and leadership.
- Understanding of how R&D can drive value within a commercial organization.
Skills/Abilities:
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills.
- Intellectually curious and driven.
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or post graduate degree in chemical engineering, material science, chemistry, physical chemistry, or related field.
- Completed college sophomore year
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to move around a fabrication shop and an industrial plant site, including safely climbing inside and around equipment.
