Role Summary 

We are seeking Community Ambassadors to support the WM-Net Zero Indoor Air Quality project in Brockmoor. This initiative is part of a wider programme tackling climate change and improving public health through better understanding of indoor air quality in homes.

As a Community Ambassador, you will help raise awareness of the project locally, support the recruitment of residents into the study, and contribute to the delivery of community engagement activities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is locally connected, interested in health or environmental issues, and confident engaging with a wide range of people.

 

Main Duties

  • Act as a local point of contact for the WM-Net Zero project in Brockmoor.
     
  • Support the recruitment of local residents to participate in the Indoor Air Quality study.
     
  • Promote the project through informal conversations, community groups, local events, and social media.
     
  • Assist with the organisation and delivery of engagement activities, including drop-ins, workshops, and public events.
     
  • Gather informal feedback from residents and share insights with the project team.
     
  • Ensure that engagement activities are inclusive and representative of the local community.

 

Person Specification 

Essential

  • Strong and demonstrable connections to the wider Dudley area.
     
  • Confident and approachable communicator, comfortable engaging with diverse audiences.
     
  • Interest in public health, housing, environmental issues, or climate action.
     
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage tasks independently.
     
  • Willing to contribute a small number of hours each month, including occasional evening or weekend activities.
     
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Community Ambassadors and the wider project team.

     

Desirable

  • Experience supporting or participating in community projects, events, or campaigns.
     
  • Basic knowledge of issues relating to indoor air quality, sustainability, or environmental justice.
     
  • Confidence using digital tools such as email, WhatsApp, or social media for local outreach.
