Position Objective
The Fitness Specialist is responsible for leading the PEAK Performance Program. They will use their exercise physiology knowledge and experience to develop programing, enhance sessions and ensure the athletes are performing exercises in a safe and appropriate manner. This position will work as a part of the sports medicine team of Heartland Orthopedic Specialists with clients to meet their fitness goals and take a proactive approach towards injury prevention. They will also work closely with the employee health department to assist in the employee fitness center with various exercise programs and participate on the wellness committee.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for working collaboratively with the sports medicine team in developing and maintaining the PEAK Performance program location
- Partner with the sports medicine team of Heartland Orthopedic Specialists to ensure a proactive approach towards injury prevention programming
- Promote the PEAK program through community connections and involvement in order to ensure the program is a program of choice within the region
- Schedule clients, ensure registration items are completed, and payment received.
- Keep client records, payment records, and statistics up to date
- Ensure the athletes are performing exercises in a safe and appropriate manner at all times
- Responsible for collecting customer payments, preparing deposits and maintaining accurate records
- Maintain equipment maintenance and facility’s cleanliness
Other Responsibilities
- Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner
- Demonstrate the ability to use relevant equipment
- Support, understand, and promote Alomere Health’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures
- Ability to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department
- Foster respectful working relationships with professional colleagues, patients, families, and general public regardless of age, gender, lifestyle, culture, beliefs, race, socioeconomic class, or ability
Required Qualifications
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AAS Degree in Exercise Science
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Wellness, or Health Fitness preferred
- 3+ years of work experience involving youth athletes and group programming; sport specific training experience in hockey, soccer, baseball, etc.
- Certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) by the ACSM and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) by the NSCA
- Certified Athletic Trainer with Board of Certification, Current (or eligible for) MN Athletic Trainer license

- Ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times, especially in regards to confidentiality, following HIPAA and Alomere Health policies/procedures
- Ability to observe and practice universal precautions and emergency first aid
