Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Food & Nutrition Services, the Lunch Manager is responsible for serving as a School Lunch Assistant, while overseeing daily foodservice operations on their entire campus, including other serving sites.
Primary areas of responsibility include: ensuring foodservice operations are in coordination with school schedules; training School Lunch Assistants at respective campus; ensuring compliance with Food & Nutrition Services policies and procedures in order to maintain good standing with the National School Lunch Program guidelines; ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitary policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Check in with school staff weekly to ensure lunch orders are consistent with school schedules and events.
- Ensure meal accommodations are recorded, ordered, and provided to the correct student.
- Submit completed food and milk orders for the respective campus weekly.
- Follow up with School Lunch Assistants to ensure orders are complete and accurate.
- Conduct a daily inventory check at all serving sites on respective campus.
- Operate Point of Sale (POS) system, tracking meal counts throughout serviceConduct a monthly audit of meal counts for all serving sites at respective campus, ensuring they are completed and accurate.
- Assist in training School Lunch Assistants at respective campus.
- Ensure all field trips at respective campus are accounted for and food orders, paperwork and point of service data are completed.
- Monitoring food orders daily at all serving sites on respective campus to minimize food waste.
- Manage cash and check deposits for School Lunch Program at respective campus and ensure all monies received are handled in a manner to prevent loss for entire campus.
- Assist in the monitoring and review of lunch program procedures in order to maintain compliance with the National School Lunch Program guidelines.
- Complete daily transportation and production reports, and maintain records to report to the National School Lunch Program.
- Ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate for all campus serving sites.
- Coordinate with Supervisor, Food & Nutrition Services, on staff coverage and substitutes.
- Track and report food delivery times to Supervisor, Food & Nutrition Services daily.
- Follow safe and sanitary food handling procedures at all times.
- Supervise students to ensure that procedures for maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene in the storage, preparation, and service of food are followed.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams and independently.
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would ensure being able to meet and fulfill job requirements.
- High school diploma
- A minimum of one year experience in a management position
- A minimum of two years experience in a foodservice establishment
- In depth knowledge of K-12 food service systems, staff training and supervision, USDA school meal program procedures and compliance
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Current ServSafe Manager Certification
Technical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of the procedures, policies, practices and methods of food service operations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsTechnical computer applications including Google Suite and POS software
