Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Peer Navigator to join our growing team on a part-time (0.7EFT) ongoing basis.
We are seeking passionate and empathetic individuals to join our Lived/Living Experience workforce as Peer Navigators. These roles Consumer Peer Navigator and Family-Carer Peer Navigator are integral to supporting people accessing acute mental health care and their families, carers, and supporters.
Drawing on your own lived or living experience where as a consumer of mental health services to as a family member or carer – you will provide emotional and practical support, foster hope, and help people navigate their recovery journey.
Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you’ll strengthen discharge and transitional care processes, centre lived experience perspectives, and contribute to system improvement.

The role of the Peer Navigator is:
- Build peer relationships by purposely and appropriately shared lived experiences to support consumers and/or families, carers, and supporters.
- Strengthen discharge and transitional support in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
- Support individuals, families, and carers to express their preferences, access services, and actively participate in care planning.
- Provide service orientation, navigation support, and linkages to community and peer resources.
- Promote lived experience perspectives to influence service delivery and system change.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Personal lived or living experience relevant to either Consumer or Family-Carer role.
- Understanding of challenges people face when navigating mental health services.
- Willingness to purposefully and appropriately share your story to support others.
- Experience in peer support or similar lived experience role (minimum 6 months desirable).
- Strong communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
