Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Mechanical Drafter position to work in our Canonsburg PA.Office. The hours are Monday and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Mechanical Drafter will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a Non-Exempt employee.
The ideal candidate will be creative, detailed oriented, have time management skills, and technical skills, and be a team player. This candidate will also have experience using AUTOCAD or similar programs.
Job Description:
- Support Applications Engineering with the P&ID generation for proposals using AUTOCAD Mechanical / AUTOCAD Plant 3D
- Perform the AUTOCAD design work for all of the project designs in standard and metric formats
- Perform basic layouts in AutoCAD creating fabrication drawings that translate easily to promote automation of both purchasing and fabrication of the assemblies. These drawing packages will also be utilized by field construction staff to erect or repair the tanks and associated equipment.
- Advise first line supervisor of project status, timing, resource availability and capability
- Check and correct completed drawings.
- Preparation and maintenance of document transmittal and index forms.
- Provide detail design drafting and/or technical support to project groups for new and existing equipment utilizing CAD software
- Basic ability to create complex working-quality technical drawings for detail parts and assemblies in accordance with accepted industry drafting standards and symbology, verbal instruction, and production methods and processes
- Working knowledge of departmental CAD modeling and documentation tools, preparing detailed CAD design layouts for electro-mechanical assemblies working from conceptual design layouts or design instructions.
- Interfacing with Project Engineering, Manufacturing Division and other internal customers to meet requirements for assigned project.
- General Drafting (using AUTOCAD Plant 3D, including corrections, markups, etc. to P&IDs, GAs, etc.
- Plotting: Plot drawings using AUTOCAD (and Excel at times).
- Help maintain and update ACAD library to meet ANSI and ISA standards.
- Other miscellaneous duties or responsibilities as assigned to support the operations of the department or the company.
Skill Requirements:
- Well verse with AutoCAD Plant 3D, preparation of P&IDs, PFD, HFD, Equipment Layout. Creating projects, modifying symbology, line & equipment tags etc.
- Experience of developing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for Interconnecting Pipework based on Equipment Layout.
- Any other equipment drafting as per requirements identified, specific to individual projects. Use check lists to verify the drawings for factual accuracy, prior to engineering release of drawings.
- Use sub vendor drawings for proper integration with the balance of plant design.
- Assist with drawing revisions - this may involve cross discipline necessitated changes, or customer comments.
- Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive attitude and good organizational skills.
- Ability to plan and manage assigned projects.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to use personal computer (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Internet (SAP and Access desired) to input data and process information at a high level of proficiency.
- Experience of drafting for water/wastewater treatment projects is preferred.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent / Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting / Design preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar software
