WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Purchasing Manager holds a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless function of the Purchasing Department and its integral processes. Your mandate extends to the identification of new vendor opportunities and intricate pricing negotiations, facilitating a symbiotic partnership with new and existing vendors as well as involved stakeholders. This role entails a harmonious synergy with the inventory and assets management units, culminating in the establishment of a dependable and cost-effective supply chain that guarantees the timely provision of requisite parts and products. The role involves optimizing resource allocation and efficiency, particularly in the specialized field of machining downhole tools manufacturing and parts supply, to support our organizational goals.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Efficiently manage daily purchasing activities to maintain uninterrupted production by handling supply shortages
- Professionally negotiate contracts and formulate strategic policies with suppliers
- Continuously assess suppliers to maintain optimal inventory levels and timely deliveries
- Provide oversight of supplier partnerships and qualification processes to achieve sustained cost reductions and product availability
- Identify new vendors and assess product availability while establishing favorable sales terms
- Collaborate with the Inventory Control Manager and Sales team to develop and implement metrics for gauging inventory needs
- Propose enhancements to purchasing procedures, cultivate vendor relationships, and reduce operational costs
- Collaborate with the Sales team, offering pricing feedback and ensuring margin alignment
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
- Work with the Engineering to evaluate and approve downhole tool parts specifications
- Direct and coordinate Purchasing personnel to foster a cohesive and efficient team
- Collaborate with supply chain management team to construct a monthly forecast
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management required
- 5+ years as a Purchasing Manager within downhole tools manufacturing and machining
- Proficiency in negotiation, leadership, analytics, and written/verbal communication
- Advanced in Microsoft Excel, MS Office, Power BI, Dynamics, and ERP systems; experience with forecasting models advantageous
- Empowering and approachable, fostering trust and serving as a trusted advisor
- Effective multitasking and time management, skilled in swift information evaluation and practical judgment aligned with company and customer needs
- Strong prioritization, adaptability, maintaining high personal standards, creative and proactive problem-solving, and a professional demeanor for addressing challenges and maintaining rapport
- Effective customer and internal relationship building, collaborative teamwork, and positive work environment focus, with cognitive proficiency in learning, processing, analyzing, reasoning, and decision-making
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds
- Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, copier/printer/scanner
- Sit and/or stand for long periods of time, up to 8-10 hours a day
- Walk/travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), at minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots and a hard hat
