OBJECTIVE:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for improving product quality, increasing process efficiency, and reducing variation in the inputs to various departmental business operations. Ensure customer satisfaction by improving products and processes through failure-mode effects analysis. Correction of product failures which occur in the field. Process failures which occur in-house. Responsible for maintaining a strong collaborative partnership with cross-functional team members that facilitates organizational success through safety business needs. Lead on-time completion of Quality Assurance (QA) engineering deliverables.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Experienced in using statistical tools, problem solving tools, and methodology. (i.e., 8D, 5Y, Fishbone etc.)
  • Ensure performance of suppliers through monitoring of scorecards and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions resulting from non-conformances.
  • Provide technical support and design assistance for new gauges, and measurement methods. 
  • Monitor and measure customer products and special characteristics. 
  • Monitor and measure manufacturing processes, including statistical capability studies.
  • Responsible for SPC; both manually recorded & data collection devices. 
  • Assist with the analysis of SPC data.   
  • Develop and maintain error-proofing/mistake-proofing methods in manufacturing cells.  
  • Assist Operations Manager with continual improvement projects.   
  • Participate in APQP team activities for IMDS submissions, Control Plans, PFMEA, and Process Flow Charts.   
  • Customer support and weekend work may be required.   


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. e noise level in the manufacturing environment and job sites can be loud. The manufacturing work environment is not temperature controlled, and the employee may be exposed to high heat work conditions.  


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 100 pounds and routinely lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 


TRAVEL:

  • Semi frequent short distance, and infrequent long distant travel may be required. 
  • Travel and interaction between Meteor Creative facilities may be required.  


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • 3-5 Years’ Quality Experience in a Manufacturing Environment 
  • Proven work experience in Process Engineering. 
  • Familiarity of process flow as it relates to lean manufacturing. 
  • High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment; and/or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above-mentioned essential functions. 
  • Experience with ISO-16949 and ISO-9001 is highly preferred. 
  • Experience with IATF is highly preferred.


FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY:

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.  
  • Ability to always exercise good judgment and professionalism. Ability to coordinate and assist with day-to-day production functions.  
  • Experience and demonstrated skills/knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) ERP Systems, and accurate data entry. Basic computer skills and experience, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and additional ERP systems experience a plus.
