Position: Aide, Instructional
Location: College Park Elementary
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Texas paraprofessional certificate
• Have met formal academic assessment (approved para course), associate’s degree, or 48 college hours completed
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Proficient skills in the use of general office equipment and computers
Experience:
• Two years of experience working with students preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the teacher(s) in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of teacher(s).
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative guidelines, local board policy and state law.
- Assist the teacher(s) in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher(s).
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Keep the teacher(s) informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- Assist in maintaining neat and orderly classrooms.
- Assist in the inventory, care and maintenance of school equipment.
- Assist the teacher(s) in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events, as assigned.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Maintain confidentiality concerning student records.
- Exhibit a positive attitude by acting as a role model for district employees, students and the community that supports the mission of the district and/or campus goals.
- Demonstrate cooperation by working effectively with others including supervisors, peers, teachers, parents and students.
- Demonstrate dependability by being punctual and present at work.
- Exhibit reliability by completing work as assigned and meeting project time lines.
- Exhibit poise and self-control in decision making and problem solving relating to job assignment.
- Demonstrate initiative by recognizing needs of the job and suggest ways to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Comply with policies and procedures pertaining to job assignment.
- Demonstrate proper maintenance, care storage and use of equipment and materials.
- Maintain proper safety and security precautions to prevent unnecessary or unreasonable risk of injury to self or others.
- Seek to improve job performance through self-assessment, skill development, training and goal setting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administrators and certified teachers as assigned.

The district contributes $400/monthly to the cost of "employee-only" health insurance which is $175/monthly greater than the state required amount of $225/monthly.
