SUMMARY: The Corporate Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records and GAAP compliance within the corporate accounting department.  Perform monthly reconciliation responsibilities for month-end financial reporting.

 

DUTIES:  

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of bank statements and assigned general ledger account reconciliation
  • Assist with fixed asset depreciation, financial reporting and ensure timely and accurate month-end close and reporting
  • Maintain entry of policy payments, commissions and client claim receipts for our agricultural insurance departments
  • Reviews, analyzes and implements process efficiencies and maintains standard operating procedures (SOP) in accordance with SOC1 compliance
  • Provide department support, back-up and leadership for basic accounting functions
  • Establish and cultivate a working relationship with internal staff and vendors through collaboration, communication and empathy
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and required by management

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisor responsibilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; or combination of experience and education
    1. Associate’s Degree and 4+ years work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
    2. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 8+ years work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate accounting setting
  • Proficient with Office 365 and Enterprise One accounting software package
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
