For our high-tech R&D center we are currently looking for a Principal Packaging Engineer (f/m/d) based in Monheim am Rhein. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the technical file responsibilities for medical device packaging.

  • Lead the preparation, review, and continuous update of supporting documents related to packaging development, validation, and compliance

  • Audit support

  • Testing and qualifying packaging according to required regulations, e.g. medical devices, medicinal products, dangerous goods / UN, …

  • Collaborate effectively across functions and in global teams and liaise externally with multiple development partners in the packaging industry

  • Develop and own expertise in a wide range packaging technologies; define and perform scientific test programs and data analysis

  • Participate in multidisciplinary problem solving efforts to optimize packaging design and resolve manufacturing challenges

  • Collaborate with Ecolab´s Marketing and Sales organization to understand the customer and business needs and translate these into new packaging designs

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical device and packaging with design, development, and validation of packaging solutions for medical devices.

  • Proven expertise in medical device regulatory standards (MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 11607).

  • Experience with design controls, risk management, and validation protocols.

  • Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills as well as self-reliant autonomous working manner

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new and different situations

  • Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ requirements

  • Valid EU Driving License

  • Fluency in English is a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EU MDR transition projects or FDA submissions.

  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives in medical packaging

  • Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, or PMP are a plus.
