About the Department
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity to fill the position of Instrumentation & Control Specialist. This is a hands-on, technical role where you'll help keep Gilbert’s wastewater and reclaimed water systems running safely and efficiently.
As an Instrumentation & Control Specialist, you'll support the Town's wastewater and reuse/reclaimed water department by maintaining electrical, instrumentation, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. You'll collaborate with the engineering team to provide feedback on the control systems for new Town projects and rehabilitation projects, ensuring systems run safely and efficiently. You’ll also assist electrical crews and other departments with troubleshooting, programming, and optimizing control systems that keep Gilbert’s infrastructure operating at its best.
The Instrumentation & Control Specialist reports to the Wells Utility Supervisor and is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work, thrives in a team environment, and is committed to safety and service in every task.
What You'll Do:
- Schedule, prioritize, coordinate, and perform preventative maintenance of specialized equipment, instrumentation controls, and SCADA systems
- Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, install, program, and calibrate equipment and systems within wastewater
- Exhibit a service orientation toward internal and external customers and maintain productive working relationships in the best interest of the Town
- Modify and design system controls and equipment for maximum efficiency and lifespan that allows for no interruption to the current system process

Position Duties
At Team Gilbert, we hire innovative, forward-thinking problem-solvers who love what they do! In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements:
- Associate's Degree or two-year technical certificate in Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Systems
- 4 years Journeyman level experience in maintenance, design and construction of electrical/instrumentation and control systems: specifically, in regard to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Remote Terminal Units (RTU's)
- 2 years of experience in the maintenance, design and construction of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) with radio telemetry and communications
- 2 years of experience with water/wastewater systems and control loops
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

- 4 years electrical/instrumentation state certified apprenticeship or college equivalent
- Valid AZ Driver's License
- Must obtain a Grade I Water Distribution and Grade I in Water Treatment (ADEQ) within one year of hire.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions for this position include: This role involves working in various environments, including outdoor settings with varying weather conditions, as well as exposure to various environmental hazards, including fumes, odors, dusts, chemicals, etc. Physical demands include regular lifting (occasionally up to 50lbs and frequently up to 20lbs). The role primarily works four (4) ten-hour days and may be subject to on-call availability.
