Senior Accountant 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Senior Accountant’s primary role includes supporting the month end close process and quarterly reporting requirements and adherence to Company policies and processes.  

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): 

  • Performance of monthly general ledger procedures for assigned areas, including processing journal entries, and preparation of supporting schedules, analyses and documentation
  • Monthly reconciliation and analysis related to specific balance sheet accounts including, but not limited to cash, investments, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and expense accruals
  • Adhere to established deadlines to ensure a timely close
  • Coordinate with other business units to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly internal and external reporting requirements and analyses
  • Understand and maintain internal control documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) and ensure responsibilities are performed in accordance with appropriate internal control requirements
  • Assist in preparation for annual audits and quarterly reviews, including interaction with external and internal auditors
  • Actively participate in both system and process improvements by monitoring assigned areas for process improvements to ensure efficiency
  • Create and update policies and process documents as needed
  • Ad hoc analysis and other special projects as assigned

Qualifications:  

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Internal controls (SOX) experience
  • Life science/biotech industry experience preferred
  • Experience with SAP S4/Hana preferred
  • Strong systems skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business
  • Salary is commensurate with experience
