About the role
We are looking for an employee with a strong understanding of anatomy and computerized tomography. You will use computed tomography (X-ray) equipment to take images of a patient’s body from different angles to help locate internal injuries and diagnose diseases. People with good interpersonal skills and a desire to use technology for patient care will thrive in this role.
Supervision Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of all department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and view digital images.
Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
Exhibits a working knowledge of principles, practice and procedures involved in the operation of CT equipment, including determining and setting appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Prepare patients for procedures by providing clear instructions and answering questions to reduce anxiety.
Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated. Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
Initiate patient IVs and administer oral and IV contrast material.
Recognizes changes in patient status and appropriately communicates to nurse and/or physician.
Provides documentation of individual patient care according to history and clinical information.
