DSG is seeking a Payroll and HR Data Analyst to join our team! As a Payroll and HR Data Analyst, you will be tasked with ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting the organization's foundational HR data analytics initiatives. In the immediate term, approximately 60 to 70% of this role will be dedicated to payroll execution and compliance. The remaining responsibilities will involve analyzing and disseminating HR and payroll data to enhance efficiency, compliance, and informed decision-making. As the organization continues to expand, this position will play a pivotal role in advancing our HR data capabilities, thereby offering substantial development opportunities for individuals who possess curiosity and a keen eye for insightful analysis.

A Typical Day in the Life of a Payroll and HR Data Analyst at DSG:
- Primary Duties: Payroll (60-70%)
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including garnishments, tax filings, and reporting.
- Manage multi-state payroll processing and ensure accurate time and attendance reporting.
- Support year-end processes, including W-2 preparation, audits, and reconciliations.
- Act as a resource to employees and managers for payroll-related inquiries.
- Audit Payroll data for accuracy before processing payroll
- Collaborate with other departments on payroll projects to ensure we organize and process payroll data efficiently.
- Support Payroll Manager with Unemployment Insurance and workers' compensation accounts and reporting.
- Responsibilities: HR Analytics & Data (30-40%)
- Extract, clean, and analyze payroll and HR data from multiple systems (e.g., ADP, CRM, Excel, BI tools).
- Support development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visualizations that track HR metrics (e.g., turnover, headcount, overtime, pay trends).
- Identify trends, anomalies, or opportunities for improvement in payroll and workforce data.
- Partner with HR leadership to provide insights supporting workforce planning, compliance audits, and organizational strategy.
- Collaborate with IT or BI teams to design solutions that enhance payroll and HR data integration and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
A Successful Payroll and HR Data Analyst Typically Has:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 3–5 years of payroll experience; multi-state payroll expertise strongly preferred. Candidates with strong data analytics backgrounds will also be considered if willing to develop payroll expertise.
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices and relevant compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency with Excel; experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) preferred. Familiarity with data analysis languages (SQL, Python) a plus.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret and understand data trends.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll/HRIS systems preferred.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to balance routine payroll cycles with project-based analytical work.
