Description
We are seeking a hands-on and mechanically skilled and motivated Tooling Technician to join our team. This role is critical to our operations and will play a major part in maintaining and repairing molds essential to our production process. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This job will be evening shift, Monday - Friday 2:00pm – 10:00pm, some weekends.
Requirements
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Conduct complete mold teardowns, inspections, and reassembly as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems associated with molds and tooling equipment.
- Perform manifold repairs to support proper mold functionality.
- Use manual mills and lathes for machining tasks (experience is a plus).
- Operate and safely utilize cranes to lift and move tooling components.
- Always Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized tooling workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.
- Develop welding skills within the first year of employment (training will be provided).
- Provide low-voltage electrical troubleshooting and repairs as needed (preferred).
- Be available for an on-call schedule for tooling related emergencies outside of normal working hours.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications are a plus.
- Proven mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in a maintenance or tooling role.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Crane operation experience or willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, particularly in relation to LOTO procedures.
- Welding experience is not required but will be expected to be developed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Low-voltage electrical experience or knowledge.
- Experience in an injection molding environment is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and using tools and equipment safely.
