Calibre is currently inviting applications for a Site Services Plumber to join our growing team as the company transitions from mine construction to mine operations.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Site Services Maintenance Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all camp and site services infrastructures.
This position is located at the Project site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous health, safety, and environment leader, adhere to and promote health, safety and environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
- Always establish and promote a respectful and healthy work environment.
- Participate in Health, Safety and Environment initiatives.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Promote a proactive approach to continuous improvement by reporting all Health, Safety and Environment incidents and communicating solutions.
- Conduct inspections and testing to ensure that work detailed on work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
- Perform daily camp checks.
- Perform preventative maintenance on infrastructure.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures to site services infrastructure.
- Perform repairs to basins, toilets, flush boxes, showers, grease traps, etc.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network, and waste drainage systems.
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings to necessitate repairs to existing systems.
- Ensure all installation repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes.
- Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and implement those that are within your ability.
- Demonstrate flexibility responding to emergencies and rapidly changing needs.
- Work with the procurement department to keep adequate maintenance spares for the camp.
- Change filters, inspect air handling units, repair leaks in Hvac or refrigeration systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- Red Seal Journeyperson Plumbing certificate.
- A minimum of 3 years Journeyperson plumbing experience, preferably in a remote camp based environment.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for the equivalent of the required qualifications.
- Refrigeration/HVAC experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience with pumps would be considered an asset.
- Experience with foundation, siteworks, tiling, carpentry, and other trades would be considered an asset.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and train apprentices.
- Strong knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
- Innovation and ability to use initiative.
- Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements.
- The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.
