The construction and operation of the Woodsmith Project is only possible if all of the necessary Permits and licences are secured, maintained and complied with, throughout the Life of Mine. As such, these Permits are a key asset of the Crop Nutrients business
Job Description:Join us as a Permitting Officer on a 12 Month Fixed Contract, where you will support the Permitting & Environment Manager in Identifying, securing, implementing and ensuring compliance with ‘Development and Environmental’ (“D&E”) Permits necessary for the construction and operation of the Woodsmith Project. Whilst maintaining an effective governance system for all Permits necessary for the construction and operation of the Woodsmith Project, ensuring compliance with the Anglo American Integrated Permitting Standard.
Your duties will include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of a governance system for all relevant Permits necessary for the construction and operation of the Woodsmith Project.
- Working closely with the Legal Specialist – Permitting and Safety to develop a matrix of Project-wide Permitting requirements that align with the Anglo American Integrated Permitting Standard
- Supporting the procurement, co-ordination and management of the time, cost and performance of external specialist technical advisors.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and Contractors to identify and assign accountabilities for Permit acquisition, implementation and compliance. Identify gaps and develop actions plans to close them.
- Supporting the team in undertaking permitting activities (applications, discharge of conditions etc.), ensuring deadlines are met and third-party progress aligns with Project schedules.
- Liaising with the Crop Nutrients Business Unit, Project and Contractor stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate input to permitting activities.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement processes, including community and authority interactions.
- Ensure that Permit applications are followed up at the appropriate time to ensure no delays to Project progress.
- Ensure that all relevant Permits are maintained until no longer required and then that Permits are 'closed’ when no longer required.
- Translate Permit conditions into actionable tasks, maintain a comprehensive permitting register and manage the Permitting module of ISOMETRIX.
- Carry out self-assessments and co-ordinate external review of the Project’s compliance with the Anglo American Integrated Permitting Standard.
- Ensure the preparation of internal and external reports in relation to Permitting, as per Project and Anglo American Requirements.
- Maintain and update of the Permitting & Environment Team Sharepoint site.
- Manage the collation of statistics and other data in relation to the Project’s Permitting and Environmental performance and ensure that such data are reported in accordance with Project and Anglo American requirements.
- Ensure that the requirements (commitments) of Permits are communicated to relevant internal stakeholders and that Project sites, assets and workers can operate and are operating within these requirements.
- Oversee the management of the Environment and Permitting Team budget, including raising Purchase Orders, accruals and forecasting and report on progress and risk to the Permitting & Environment Manager.
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience of all aspects of Permitting, with a particular focus on D&E Permits.
- Able to understand Regulatory and Group requirements re. Permitting.
- Strong influencing and consulting/communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of collaboration with Contractors and Regulators.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
