We are currently seeking a Clinical Claims Specialist to help fulfill our mission.

About the Role

The Clinical Claims Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and transactional support for medical claims functions. This role maintains confidential information with discretion, including donor and corporate financial information. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviews and prepares donor hospital claims in collaboration with a third-party claims review provider.
  • Reviews external surgeon and physician fee payment requests for validity and proper payment.
  • Communicates with hospital partners on the status of outstanding claims. 
  • Prepares weekly claims payables for hand-off to the AP Specialist for processing. 
  • Allocates various clinical expenses via ExamWorks reconciliation and journal entry process.
  • Allocates in-house clinical costs via detailed review of donor supply reports and allocation journal entries. 
  • Assists in the preparation of month-end accruals to ensure proper liability balances are reflected.
  • Cross-trains with Accounts Payable Specialist to collaborate and provide assistance when needed. 
  • Follows company policy and current Medicare regulations during daily record keeping, helps to complete questions as assigned by the Medicare Intermediary and external auditors, and supports the completion of the annual Medicare Cost Report. 

  Who We’re Looking For

This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma and two or more years of experience in an accounts or medical claims payable role is required. A working knowledge of word processing, database accounting software and electronic spreadsheets is also required. Knowledge and understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and requirements from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is required. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include:

  • Knowledge and application of data processing and terminology as it applies to maintaining financial control and accounting records
  • Knowledge of techniques commonly used in locating errors in accounting records
  • Ability to complete assigned projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to present accounting data in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical users
  • Ability to work independently and resolve accounting and financial problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to work within teams and committees
  • Skill in accurate and fast data entry
  • Skill in planning and organizing
  • Skill in the production of fast and accurate reports
  • Knowledge of techniques commonly used in locating errors in accounting records.
