The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Biostatistician (Masters level) to join our Transgender Health Research Group — a dynamic team working to support the health, wellbeing, and belonging of trans and gender diverse young people.

 

Our flagship project, Trans20, is a landmark longitudinal cohort study that follows the health and wellbeing of trans and gender diverse young people accessing care at the Royal Children's Hospital Gender Service. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful, community-informed research that addresses stigma and promotes positive change

 

Your responsibilities include:  

Under the supervision of senior biostatisticians and team leaders, you’ll:

  • Conduct statistical analysis and data processing for observational studies
  • Contribute to the design of research protocols and analysis plans
  • Prepare statistical content for peer-reviewed publications, reports, and presentations
  • Support the skill development of students and staff within the team
  • Work collaboratively with researchers, clinicians, and community stakeholders
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical research and data confidentiality

What we need from you:

 

  • A postgraduate degree (preferably Masters) in biostatistics, applied statistics, or a closely related field
  • Strong statistical computing skills, particularly with Stata and/or R (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Interest or experience in transgender health and/or lived experience as a trans or gender diverse person is highly regarded
