Freightways Information Services Australia (FIS AU) provides effective, agile and innovative IT service delivery for multiple field-leading business units within Freightways Australia, including Allied Express, The Information Management Group and Shred-X/Med-X.

 

This Systems Engineer (SE) role joins a strong team of Infrastructure engineers, ensuring Freightways Australia business units are provided with reliable Infrastructure platforms and services, developed and supported in a modern, ITIL & Scrum-driven environment. The SE role will also contribute to delivery of cybersecurity-related initiatives and project work.

 

Candidates will possess expertise across common enterprise platforms including Okta, Windows server, Microsoft 365, Intune/Entra, ADCS & NPS, Cisco, Umbrella, FortiNet, PRTG, and client operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, Linux.

 

This role is based at Allied Express in Bankstown, NSW and is primarily an on-premises position.

 

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Key contributor to development, modernization and security of the Infrastructure environment in Freightways Australia business units.
  • Delivering and maintaining on-prem and cloud infrastructure environments, application software and management tools, ensuring operational processes are reliable, repeatable, and efficient.
  • Applying effective and methodical troubleshooting ability to solve IT issues and ensuring appropriate record-keeping and communication.
  • Ensuring stability and efficiency of platforms and infrastructure utilising proactive logging and monitoring tools.
  • Providing periodic after hours, on-call and escalation support of applicable Freightways AU 24x7 infrastructure, including system outages and incident response.
  • Working in a Kanban/Scrum team environment, actively participating in team planning sessions, standups and ensuring visibility of work in progress.

 

About you:

  • 3-5 years’ experience maintaining production IT environments across all elements of enterprise infrastructure including hardware, storage, network, virtualisation, security, OS, and applications management.
  • Strong knowledge of RMM platforms, VMware virtualization and Cisco, FortiNet network technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows server platforms; storage and backup systems; secure DNS, NAC/802.1x, CCTV.
  • Good working knowledge of Azure platform configuration and management. 
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer focused approach to IT service delivery.
  • Experience working in ITSM platforms such as Jira, ManageEngine.
  • Experience with incident troubleshooting and escalation; change management
  • Cybersecurity and project management experience is highly regarded.

 

Requirements of the role:

  • Hands on knowledge of the following technologies and processes:
    • Configuring and supporting Windows Server, Azure, VMware environments.
    • RMM-based endpoint & server configuration and vulnerability management, patching. 
    • Configuration and implementation of FortiNet, Cisco, Meraki network devices and platforms.
    • Group Policy customisation and creation.
    • PowerShell Scripting.
  • Technical knowledge across a range of IT Infrastructure best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactively learns and trains others in job functions and new technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in change and problem management.
