Requisition ID 47613 - Posted  - Full-time - Australia
Create impact as a Commercial Motor Claims Team Lead.

For over 165 years, CGU has been insuring ambition. Part of Insurance Australia Group (known as IAG), we’re a leading commercial, rural and personal lines insurer and a top-three provider of workers compensation insurance.

Your Role
Joining CGU’s Claims team as a Commercial Motor Claims Team Lead, your primary responsibility is to create a safe, supportive, and high-performing environment that enables your people to service and deliver an effortless, customer-centric claims experience for key broker portfolios. You’ll be instrumental in aligning partner and broker expectations with operational delivery, ensuring consistency in service quality, capability uplift, and claims handling excellence.

You’ll lead a team with a strong focus on engagement, performance, and compliance. This includes managing daily resource planning, workload distribution, and escalations, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and recognition. The role involves setting and executing local strategies that align with the broader business objectives and driving operational outcomes that meet KPIs and SLAs.

Collaboration is key, both within the CGU team and across external partnerships. You’ll build effective relationships with intermediaries, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure customer outcomes are achieved. Your leadership will directly influence team engagement, retention, and culture metrics, and you’ll contribute to broader initiatives to enhance claims processes, risk mitigation, and service delivery.

This is a permanent role, and we welcome applicants from Naarm (Melbourne), Gadigal Country (Darling Park, Sydney) and Dharug Country (Parramatta).

About You
  • Proven experience leading claims or operational teams through significant change, with a strong people-first leadership style.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver operational strategy through effective planning, daily execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building team culture and engagement.
  • Ability to manage escalations, drive accountability, and coach for performance and capability uplift.
  • Solid understanding of the insurance industry and claims lifecycle, ideally within commercial motor claims not required but highly desirable.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Insurance, Finance, Law, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential).

Applications close Sunday 12 October, 23:59pm AEST.

Joining CGU, you’ll have access to a raft of benefits from across the Group:
