Role: Assistant Strategic and Capability Officer

Employment Type:  Temporary opportunity until 30 June 2026.

Location: Flexible/hybrid working arrangements available across NSW, with some travel to Sydney metro locations required from time to time (negotiable)

Grade: DCS Clerk Grade 5/6

The opportunity   

A 10-month temporary opportunity has become available as the Assistant Strategic Capability Officer in Government Technology Platforms; part of Digital NSW and the Department of Customer Service. Our aim is to be the state’s trusted partner to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services for the citizens and businesses of NSW. https://www.digital.nsw.gov.au/delivery/government-technology-platforms

Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic Capability, you will provide a range of support and administrative services to facilitate the effective delivery and continuous improvement of workforce operations, including:

  • Oversee internal vacancy requests, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and preparation for delegate approval
  • Ensure contractor requests comply with applicable approval frameworks
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Low Code team regarding the Resource App
  • Manage the GTP Strategic Capability inbox, responding promptly to enquiries and escalating issues to the appropriate team members as needed
  • Administer organisational structure (establishment) tasks within SAP
  • Coordinate with teams and leaders on resourcing matters, in partnership with DCS Talent
  • Provide general administrative support for strategic capability initiatives and assume team Scrum responsibilities

This role involves providing workforce administration and general team coordination support. You'll use your existing knowledge of organisational processes to engage, manage, and report on agile product team resource allocations, utilisation, funding, and capability development, aiding the delivery of digital platforms, products, and services across the entire government

What you will bring to this role 

  • Proven administrative support experience, preferably in people-focused roles, ensuring accurate information and timely resolution of issues
  • Skilled in managing sensitive records and digital systems to maintain data accuracy and information security
  • Effective collaborator across business areas to drive successful outcomes
  • Proficient in compiling data and preparing performance reports with actionable recommendations
  • Experienced in maintaining systems and dashboards; familiarity with Microsoft PowerApps and/or PowerBI preferred
  • Commitment to continuous improvement

 Salary Grade 5/6, with the base salary for this role starting at 99,938 base plus superannuation
