Director, Global Payroll

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite 4 days per week in Kohler, WI. 

Opportunity

As the Director-Global Payroll, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll operations across the enterprise. The Director-Global Payroll will lead a team of payroll professionals to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in multiple countries while maintaining compliance with local regulations and company policies.

This role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of payroll processes and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global payroll strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Manage the global implementation of Workday Payroll and consolidate timekeeping systems to improve data accuracy and reporting  
  • Provide direct and indirect leadership to a global payroll team, including regional managers, local payroll staff, and external vendor partners.
  • Global payroll operation oversight across 30+ countries, supporting a workforce of over 30,000 associates
  • Directing the processing of payroll for employees in multiple countries, including data collection, validation, calculation, and distribution of payments.  
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of payroll data to internal stakeholders, finance, and external authorities as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, legal, and IT, to streamline payroll processes, optimize systems, and resolve issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices globally, and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll vendors, ensuring service levels are met and contracts are adhered to.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance the payroll experience for employees.
  • Prepare and manage the payroll budget, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on payroll matters, providing guidance and support to stakeholders across the organization.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPP, FPC) preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience in payroll management, with a proven track record of success in a global organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements across multiple countries.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends and insights.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing payroll systems and technology solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Preferred experience: hands-on experience with global payroll systems, particularly Workday and SAP, including configuration, reporting, and integration across complex, multi-country environments.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
