The role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated FP&A Manager to lead our financial planning and analysis team.
You will be responsible for overseeing the forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis processes, as well as providing strategic financial insights to support the organisation's growth and profitability.
Reporting to the VP Finance and Operations ANZ, the role requires a person who enjoys spending time with the business and has a proactive attitude to understand the key commercial drivers of the financial performance of the business.
What you'll do:
• Manage and oversee the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes through strong business partnering
• Be a good educator and communicator to teams on how they can achieve their financial goals in areas of domestic and international sales, variable cost of sales, other revenue including the growing areas of Merchandise and Masterworks Live!, and other income/expense; Coordinate label-wide P&L budget and monthly forecast updates inclusive of talent, marketing and overhead costs, ensuring consistency with corporate guidance.
• Support decision making across the organisation by using complex financial modelling and scenario analysis to appraise proposals.
• Ownership of M&A process for financial valuation, using internal models and external data to provide business development teams with accurate insight into prospective deals.
• Evaluate potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions to support growth initiatives, ensuring Sony Music Global investment returns are achieved using the best available data, using global models and tools.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives.
• Work together with the financial accounting team for the monthly financial reporting process, including variance analysis and management reporting.
• Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Analysis of key KPIs and trends across the industry and the business
• Mentor and develop FP&A team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Who you are:
• Experience in a business facing finance role with a strong track record in business partnering.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA/CA a plus) and 5–7 years of experience in financial planning & analysis or corporate finance, preferably in the music, entertainment, or media industry; Strong understanding of revenue recognition, royalty arrangements and cost structures within the recorded music business preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Powerpoint and Advanced Excel) and financial modeling, and eager to quickly learn proprietary company software and other applications; Data visualization software experience (Tableau/Power BI) a plus.
• Solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS and experience with enterprise-level ERP systems (SAP) and related reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the company in a professional manner.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented, balanced with the ability to see the bigger picture, and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and adapt quickly to shifting priorities to meet deadlines on. A strategic thinker with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, equally comfortable shaping big-picture plans and executing the day-to-day work to bring them to life.
