Airfield Maintenance - Utility Specialist chez Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)

CLASS SUMMARY:

Responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of airport underground utilities systems (with the exception of Electric/Data).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

• Maintenance and repair of underground utilities with the exception of Electric/Data
• Water
• Gas
• Storm
• Sanitary
• Irrigation

• Project review for new utility systems on an as needed basis
• Temporary meters for construction use
• Assist with utility locates
• Performs servicing and testing of plumbing equipment
• Performs water main, fire hydrant and other water system repair
• Operates gasoline and diesel-powered trucks and light pieces of equipment such as backhoes, tractors, runway brooms, tractor mowers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, and snowplows
• On-call 24/7 to respond to system problems
• Complete work orders and record time/material utilized
• Performs on-call duties, specific position assignments will vary based on department needs
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED and five years of plumbing experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.  

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License Required (or ability to acquire Class A CDL within 6 months of hire date)
• Journeyman Plumber License
• Cross Connection and Control Testers license
• Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA)

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Kentucky State Plumbing Code;
• Testing and repair of cross connection devices;
• Wide variety of hand and power tools;
• Test and repair of water meters;
• OSHA Standards, Airfield and FAA Regulations.
• Electrical Safe Work Practices

SKILL IN:

• Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, and spreadsheets;
• Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require:  climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 

Very Heavy Work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
