Job Description Summary & Additional Information

The University of Maryland Health Center employees full and part time X-Ray Technicians to practice radiological technology founded upon theoretical knowledge & concepts, uses equipment and accessories consistent with the purpose for which they were designed and employs procedures & techniques appropriately.
  • Provide administrative support at the Health Center front desk, including patient scheduling, appointment management, and multi-departmental coordination (Medical Records, Immunizations, Insurance, Lab, Pharmacy, Billing).
  • Answer multi-line phone systems and respond to inquiries related to services, appointments, insurance, immunizations, and billing; assist students in resolving health-related issues and immunization compliance concerns.
  • Monitor and respond to email communications via the UHC-HealthWeb system, addressing student inquiries and removing immunization-related registration blocks as appropriate.
  • Assist the Insurance Office by researching and resolving billing issues related to radiological procedures.
  • Support the Immunization Department by reviewing and verifying immunization records, updating student charts, clearing blocks, and scanning documentation into electronic medical records.
  • Perform other administrative and clinical support duties as assigned to ensure efficient Health Center operations.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Active Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R))
    American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed Medical Radiation Technologist
    State of Maryland Department of HealthActive and in good standing

Preferences:

5 years of experience performing radiological exams

Knowledge of radiological equipment and procedures; Knowledge of radiology standards of practice; Knowledge of state and Federal radiology laws & regulations; Demonstrated expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to patients, self & other members of the health care team; Ability to work in a team setting and manage priorities of multiple internal clients; Ability to effectively use strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff. Ability to work with a positive attitude. Ability to work well in a multitasking environment with frequent interruptions, paying close attention to details. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: Graduation from a radiologic technology program approved by the American Medical Association.

EXPERIENCE: Two years as a radiographer.

OTHER: Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in following safety and other regulations concerning use of radiation in radiographic technology. Skill in lifting, moving, and positioning patients. Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment; to communicate effectively.

OTHER:

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. Employees in this job class must maintain valid registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Employees in this job class will be exposed to radiation not to exceed the legal limits of occupational exposure. Employees in this job class may be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
