Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Level 2 System Administrator to join our team supporting a mission-critical program in Annapolis Junction. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing IT system infrastructure, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, and optimizing system performance. This role requires a strong background in both Windows and Linux environments, with the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance IT systems across client, server, storage, and network environments.
Responsibilities:
Provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
Manage IT infrastructure and related processes to ensure system reliability and performance.
Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution across client, server, storage, and network devices, including mobile platforms.
Deliver Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
Communicate escalation updates and system status to agency management and internal stakeholders.
Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and network component configuration.
Implement operating system enhancements to improve overall system performance.
Manage daily activities related to IT system configuration and operations.
Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems.
Optimize system operations, resource utilization, and perform system capacity planning and analysis.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Automation experience with Ansible, Python, and BASH.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
Containerization experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, or Swarm.
Proficiency with Git repository management.
Experience configuring/managing Windows and Linux DHCP and DNS servers.
Expertise in Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), container registries, and monitoring/logging tools (ELK Stack, Prometheus).
Experience with automation/configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Puppet, or Chef.
Hands-on experience with hypervisors such as VMware, Proxmox, or OpenStack.
Qualifications:
10 years of experience as a System Administrator supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution.
An additional 5 years of SA experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
