YOUR OPPORTUNITY

 

Responsible for the daily oversight and supervision of the traffic dispatcher and shag drivers in order to properly and accurately check in, inspect, and account for all incoming trailers for loads at a rate of up to 150 per day.  The position coordinates with shipping, purchasing, cold storage, and rendering departments in order to facilitate trailers necessary to receive consumables or shipments of finished goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of traffic employees in alignment with company policies and SOPs.
  • Inspect incoming trailers using Kar-Lot software to ensure they meet safety and food quality standards.
  • Validate and monitor equipment (shag trucks, semis, pickups) through daily pre-inspection forms for safety and functionality.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely tracking for all departmental equipment.
  • Promote efficiency by recommending improvements in work conditions and equipment usage.
  • Train and develop staff using hands-on methods and company-provided tools and resources.
  • Lead safety initiatives, conduct regular safety meetings, and provide written feedback and recommendations after incidents.
  • Manage employee records including hours, absences, and performance feedback, ensuring compliance with plant policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or logistics preferred; or 3+ years of experience in a transportation/warehouse environment.
  • Communication Skills: Able to read, interpret, and write reports and procedures; capable of effectively communicating with supervisors and team members.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Vehicle Operation: Experience operating larger vehicles (e.g., shag trucks, day-cab semis); CDL is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working under pressure in fast-paced, outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with WMS and AS400 systems preferred.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English; Spanish bilingual preferred but not required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works with mechanical equipment, all Proper Protective equipment (PPE) is issued and required.
  • Employee will mainly work outside environment where temperatures vary with the seasonal changes throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level wear OSHA required hearing protection is required.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
