Summary
Responsible for day-to-day production within the Graphics Department. Supervises, motivates, and supports the staff daily, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication. Lead the graphics production team by fostering a culture of creativity and innovation, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Oversee resource allocation and utilization to ensure optimal productivity and cost-effectiveness, while implementing systems to track project progress and maintain rigorous quality control standards. Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills, providing mentorship and fostering a supportive environment for professional growth. Stay abreast of advancements in graphic design technology, integrating new tools into the workflow to ensure high-quality and efficient deliverables.
This position will support our Event & Exhibit Services team. The position follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show-site based out of Lanham, MD.
Schedule Overview
The shift hours are structured as follows:
- 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the Production Team, prioritize and produce jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
- Ability to perform all production functions when necessary.
- Comply with all OSHA safety requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the Manager/Director, and the Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that production, sales, and customer objectives are met.
- Follow systems and procedures outlined in the company manuals. Ensure Company policies & procedures are followed.
- Meet all assigned goals and assist others in accomplishing their goals.
- Assure all work entered into production follows the order entry standards and procedures.
- Organize workflow according to workload to meet delivery schedule and to complete assigned jobs.
- Develop, manage and maintain an automated workflow system that interfaces order entry, prepress, and digital and print production.
- Coordinate and maintain the completed work tickets order entry standards and procedures for the company.
- Coordinate and schedule for prepress/digital training relating to the digital standards and procedures.
- Schedule, plan and conduct weekly Production Meetings.
- Oversee all staff scheduling, time off requests and overtime.
- Manage the coordination and control of all jobs/work orders.
- Monitor quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all orders to ensure all graphic requirements are met through all production processes.
- Ensure the completion of all duties with a minimum of waste and abuse to equipment.
- Ensure employee safety training is conducted as required by Company Policy. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Meet or exceed test requirements as established by Freeman.
- Take all necessary actions to manage production costs and improve profitability.
- Ensure inventories are conducted and accurate records are maintained.
- Schedule, delegate, and ensure performance of all equipment maintenance following maintenance procedures. Maintain maintenance logs.
- Coordinate and manage all inventory supplies to ensure minimum waste and spoilage.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location.
- Ensure preventative maintenance of all production equipment.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior staff members, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Implement and refine production processes to enhance overall efficiency and output quality.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree in production or management highly preferred.
- 4+ years experience in graphic design or related field.
- 3+ years supervisory experience, supervising a team of 3 or more.
- Good general computer operation skills and basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Strong understanding of automated workflow systems for digital and press production.
- Experience with all facets of print production, including preflight, digital printing, finishing, and sewing.
- Strong mathematical skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience with team building techniques required.
- Previous experience adapting to a fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
