Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a System Administrator to be based in our Arlington, Virginia office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results. 
 
Overview:
The System Administrator will be in charge of maintaining multiple assets in support of the Advanced Capabilities business area. In addition, this individual will be in charge of providing break-fix solutions in support of our business area and the assets that are under their control. The focus will be on the assets located at our Arlington location some of which are maintained on different levels of classification. Depending on business need, there may be some travel on occasion. This role requires full-time presence on-site in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform regular server updates, patch management, and software installations.
  • Operate and Maintain servers both virtual and physical in nature running a variety of Operating Systems to include Red Hat, Windows, and VMWare products
  • Install and provision newly purchased pieces of hardware equipment
  • Develop and maintain IT processes to handle user requests and improve the processes to resolve those requests.
  • Implement, maintain, and review security processes to maintain compliance and ensure user permissions are accordingly
  • Help develop and maintain various golden images in support of business area activities to include operating system images and virtual machines.
  • Help develop and standardize the process of change management for both systems local to the office as well as remotely deployed systems.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of systems and networks for usage by both technical and non-technical stake holders
 
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent full-time professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration
 
Required skills:
  • Experience Administrating and Deploying Windows Servers and Workstations
  • Experience Administrating a VMWare Environment
  • Experience Troubleshooting network issues of various degrees of complexity
  • Understanding of common TCP/IP concepts to include TCP, UDP, VLANs, DHCP, and routing at a minimum
  • Experience Provisioning and Installing both Physical devices as well as Virtual Machines
  • Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification
  • Experience with hardening devices and updating DISA STIG Checklists
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time needed.
 
Preferred skills:
  • Strong Understanding of Red Hat or similar Linux distributions.
  • Experience working with networking within a tactical system
  • Experience with securing and managing a Cross Domain Solution (CDS) such as Everfox High Speed Guard.
  • Experience with Cisco Switching to include Virtual Port Channeling.
  • Experience with Bash, C, and/or Python scripting.
  • Experience with configuring multiple forms of authentication to include PKI concepts.
  • Experience with having to identify hardware and/or software for purchase to meet various use-cases.
  • Experience with Ruckus-based Network Devices a plus.
  • Experience with VMWare NSX-T is a plus.
  • Experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Puppet, or any other configuration automation software.

Pay Range*: $114,000 - $184,000 or $135,000 - $231,000 
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate’s experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
