About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The Business Analyst - Distribution Engineering (PA Design East) conducts data mining, data interpretation and disseminating information to the leadership team for review and analysis. The business analyst works closely with leaders and distribution designers on engineering design projects to provide administrative support, identify best practices, and develop reports as it relates to the needs of the organization.
This individual provides auditing, financial, permitting, and notary services. The business analyst drives fresh initiatives for safety, financial planning and business data utilization and identifies business areas that can be improved for safety performance, increased efficiency, and strengthen business processes. The business analyst works closely with others throughout PA Engineering to communicate their findings and helps implement changes to support Distribution Engineering objectives.
This position is on site at the Reading Office in Reading, PA.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating, notarizing, and recording Rights of Way documents.
- Drafting WBS and RPA work orders for PA East engineering design projects associated with distribution load growth in Eastern PA.
- Creating affidavits for poles being relocated for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
- Compiling and interpreting capital portfolio data, from various resources, in a concise and professional manner.
- Developing charts, tables, presentations, and other elements of data visualization.
- Processing check requests for PennDOT highway occupancy permits.
- Maintaining a database of all new business developer load applications in the Met-Ed footprint.
- Identifying and prioritizing the organization's functional and technical needs and requirements.
- Forecasting monthly projects, budgeting, monthly accruals, and performing both variance analysis and financial analysis.
- Collaborating with PA East Design Engineering leaders on various data requests and providing interpretation.
- Creating reports that assist leadership with monitoring of designer queues and reallocation of customer work, as needed.
- Providing storm support, as required, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Delivering quality and accurate work within established deadlines.
Qualifications
- Two-to-four-year degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related discipline and minimum 4 to 10 years’ related work experience is required.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum 7 to 13 years’ related work experience is required. Related work experience includes planning/analysis, invoicing, work orders, and budgeting.
- Previous utility experience is required.
- Possess strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), SAP, CREWS, and Coupa.
- Hold a PA notary license or be able to obtain a PA notary license.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data
- Have an understanding of Distribution practices, processes, and resource capabilities.
- Able to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities and projects
- Able to build strong working relationships to support leaders and workforce
- Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements
- Apply new technology to its fullest potential to reach operational process improvement goals
