Summary of Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Ski Patrol Manager, the Ski Patrol Assistant Manager assists with planning, directing & coordinating the departments operations. This position includes staff supervision and training and is a leader in guest service and safety. Ski Patrol is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on or off the mountain. In addition to emergency rescues and mountain safety, ski patrollers are hosts, guides and information centers. When called upon, ski patrol will respond to whatever the task may be. This position is a key role and important member of the Dodge Ridge team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties:
- Responsible for patrol/mountain operations under the direction of the Ski Patrol Manager.
- Assist Ski Patrol Manager in preparation of daily work assignments.
- Maintain an efficient ski patrol operation. Operate within budget guidelines.
- Be a leader in the duties of a Ski Patroller. A Ski Patroller is expected to be a safe skiing/boarding example to the public. No use of jumps, boxes, rails, or other such features in terrain parks is allowed.

- Recordkeeping and documentation:
- Review, collect and file daily work logs.
- Maintain a library of training materials kept updated for 2 patrol shacks.
- Recordkeeping of all ski patrol and safety training.
- Assist with revisions and additions to departmental manuals and guidelines.
- Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
- Leadership:
- Promote teamwork, trust and respect. Lead by example.
- Participate and facilitate ongoing training.
- Assist in the ongoing motivation, training and leadership of the Patrol department employee.
- Prepare interested patrollers for APP clinics, striving for certified results.
- Requires knowledge that all lifts and mountain trails are operational and that the operating personnel are equipped and fit to perform their duties.
- Involved in annual NSP proficiency check offs.
- Prepare patrollers for inspections and interviews from State, USFS and insurance company.
- Follow through with mountain hill safety procedures under the direction of the Ski Patrol Manager and Risk Manager.
- Maintain all mountain safety and maintenance standards; including slope safety, boundary marking, flagging, mazes, signage and any situation. Help other departments as needed; shoveling, flagging, maze control, snow removal, etc.
- Recognize and correct any safety hazards within the ski patrol department.
- Assist Ski Patrol Manager and Risk Manager in review of incident report forms and assist in identifying any potential issues.
- Assist with Search and Rescue, including all documentation and billing information.
- Follow ANSI B77.1 requirements.
- Participate in accident investigations, Code 4 investigations and documenting in 1Risk. Including investigation collection, review and filing.
- Emergency Care and Rescue.
- Rope rescue skills / lift evacuations. Direct lift evacuations with the coordination of the Ski Patrol Manager and Risk Manager.
- Working knowledge of emergency plan.
- Safe snowmobile operations.
- Participate in daily snow removal.
- Enforcement of safety rules. Be a leader in safety for the resort.
- Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions,
- Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.
- Maintain clean, safe and professional workstations.
- Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service to guests and co-workers. This involves interacting in a courteous manner and answering questions professionally.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Effective and efficient leadership skills in a similar Ski Patrol environment.
- EMT and/or OEC and CPR/AED certification required.
- Advanced skiing or boarding ability. The ability to safely and skillfully ski/board and transport a guest in a toboggan down expert terrain in an expeditious manner.
- Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
- Strong and professional communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition to complete records and report forms.
- Ability to move rapidly from task to task, both giving and taking directions.
- Able to take initiative, be proactive, remain focused, and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and within in a team environment.
- High level of organizational skills.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills, administrative skills, 1Risk, Code 4 investigation, workers compensation.
- Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation. Including the safe operation of a snowmobile in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.
- Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
- Good physical condition as this position requires skiing/boarding, hiking, shoveling, lifting and carrying. Ability to lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs. or more
- Safety and risk oriented.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Work Schedules
Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you can expect to work 6 days a week, 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
Work schedules, staffing levels and weather conditions may dictate when lunches and breaks will be taken.
You must arrange for transportation to work so you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy surfaces.
Working Conditions
At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects.
