Position Duties

  1. Design and implement scalable and secure web applications, other than the main website, to support the needs of students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
  2. Oversee the end-to-end web application development lifecycle, including gathering requirements, designing systems, program development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, either working individually or on a team to ensure success. 
  3. Collaborate with various departments to understand their requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  4. Maintain the myMohave student/staff portal and functions that automate the creation/updating of student/ staff accounts.
  5. Develop and maintain integration strategies and frameworks that connect the college’s various software systems.
  6. Ensure seamless integration of web applications through troubleshooting to resolve integration issues between systems, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
  7. Perform tasks as required to help resolve program-associated issues.
  8. Implement and enforce best practices to protect sensitive institutional data and comply with relevant regulations.
  9. Work with IT security teams to conduct risk assessments, security audits, and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  10. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for web applications, integrations, and systems architectures.
  11. Utilize helpdesk ticketing software to support users and make recommendations for how to improve processes.
  12. Lead discussions on emerging technologies and how they can be leveraged to enhance the college’s digital infrastructure.
  13. Lead team or college projects to improve the quality of the integrations & systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum

  • Associate’s degree or certiicate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of WordPress experience
  • Experience preparing technical documentation for systems, architectures, and integrations.
  • Web development, including design, build, and project management.
  • Experience working specifically on systems integration projects, where you connect multiple software applications or services.
  • Working in a development environment that is supportive of internal user customizations
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Technology Management) may be preferred, particularly for applicants.
  • A strong track record in designing, developing, and implementing complex web applications and integrations across various systems (e.g. LMS, SIS, ERP, cloud platforms) is critical.
  • Experience working in higher education, particularly in colleges, would be a significant advantage. This includes familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas and Student Information Systems (SIS) such as Ellucian.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with integration technologies (e.g. RESTful APIs, SOAP, middleware, and data synchronization techniques).
  • Experience in web development frameworks and languages, primarily HTML, Kotlin, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, JSON, Visual Studio (e.g. Node.js, React, Angular, Vue.js, Java, Python, Ruby).
  • Knowledge of security best practices in web applications and integration, including data protection and privacy regulations such as FERPA, HIPAA, or other relevant compliance frameworks.
  • Experience implementing secure coding practices and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality across applications.
  • Current Certificate Ethical Hacker certification or ability to obtain the same within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience or open to learning Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and project management tools to prioritize tasks effectively.
