Senior Database Administrator chez CBTS India

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our NoSQL database environments, primarily Cassandra and MongoDB. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distributed systems, performance tuning, and data modeling, with a proactive approach to database reliability and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

Cassandra Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain Cassandra clusters in production environments.
• Manage high-volume read/write operations with horizontal scalability.
• Configure replication, consistency levels, and monitor cluster health.
• Implement backup and recovery strategies.
• Optimize performance through compaction tuning, query analysis, and capacity planning.

MongoDB Administration:

• Deploy and manage MongoDB instances, including replica sets and sharded clusters.
• Design and implement scalable NoSQL schema models.
• Monitor performance and tune queries using MongoDB tools.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
• Perform backups and restores using Ops Manager or native tools.

General DBA Duties:

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high-availability strategies.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for schema design and integration.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
• Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Certifications in MongoDB, Cassandra, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) are a plus.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and NoSQL principles.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Shell, Perl).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud-native database deployments.
• Knowledge of other databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
