Position Summary: Bellevue University, the largest private, non-profit University in Nebraska, is seeking a full-time faculty member to fill the Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence position in the College of Science and Technology. This position is best filled by a well-rounded professional/educator/scholar with expertise in artificial intelligence and computer science. Qualified candidates leading or participating in ground-breaking artificial intelligence innovation efforts who have backgrounds in Recurrent Neural Network or Convolutional Neural Network research environments (e.g., post-graduate Ph.D. researchers) are strongly encouraged to apply. Performance Functions:
- Enthusiastically teach artificial intelligence and computer science courses at the bachelor’s and master’s level.
- Motivate students to develop their artificial intelligence skills and expand their knowledge of the field.
- Actively engage with students and provide constructive feedback on assignments.
- Actively engage with students in the course discussion forum to expand on course content, answer questions, and/or provide coding assistance.
- Develop and maintain artificial intelligence curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Actively participate in program assessment, student advising, and committee/community service.
- Select and manage adjunct instructors for assigned courses.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Director.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Science, or other technical fields is required.
- Must have university-level teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, or/and an associated Artificial Intelligence sub-topic.
- Must have experience developing university-level Artificial Intelligence and/or Computer Science courses and an understanding of the instructional design processes associated with rendering course content in an online Learning Management System.
- Preferred candidates will have hands-on experience writing software using C/C++, Python, Java, or an equivalent 3rd generation programming language in an enterprise (i.e., corporate, academic, or research) environment.
- The ideal candidate will have industry experience in artificial intelligence, software development, business operations, and/or technical research; however, a commensurate level of experience teaching artificial intelligence and/or computer science theory and application may be substituted for industry experience.
- Prior experience interacting with students using Blackboard, Blackboard Ultra, or a similar Learning Management System is a plus.
Work Location:
- Works from an approved remote office.
Pay and Benefits
- The reasonable starting salary for this role ranges from $65,000 - $80,000.
