About the opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Information Security to take the lead of our cyber security and assurance function. This is your opportunity to influence and lead enterprise-wide cyber risk initiatives, and make a meaningful impact on the safety and integrity of WorkSafe’s digital assets and services.
As the Senior Manager, Information Security, you will lead a team of dedicated security and assurance specialists to deliver robust, future-ready cyber and information security services. You’ll set the vision and strategy to protect WorkSafe’s digital environment and ensure compliance with national and international standards, all while helping to shape a security-conscious organisational culture. This is a key leadership role, reporting to the Director, WorkSafe Technology, and working across the business to influence policy, build capability, and proactively manage information risk.
Key accountabilities of the role will include:
- Lead and grow a high-performing, inclusive team of cyber security and assurance professionals.
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide information security strategies aligned with WorkSafe’s objectives.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to influence, align, and drive security governance and audit practices.
- Champion continuous improvement through audits, risk assessments, and technology evaluations.
- Act as WorkSafe’s principal contact with regulatory authorities on matters of information security and assurance.

About you
Your will bring significant experience in a senior information security or IT leadership role, ideally with experience within the government or public service sectors, as well as a deep knowledge of cyber security, information assurance, privacy practices, and risk management.
You will also demonstrate the following:
- Proven ability to lead strategy development and implementation in complex digital environments.
- Familiarity with national and international security frameworks (e.g. ISO, NIST, COBIT).
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills — able to act as a trusted advisor to senior executives.
- Expertise in managing external vendors and service providers in security contexts
Qualifications
- Certification or equivalent/similar in CISSP, CISM or SABSA
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or professional certifications
