Job Description: Ninyo & Moore has an opening for a Senior Staff Geologist to perform observation and documentation of distressed structures, prepare geologic maps and cross sections, conduct geologic evaluations, log small- and large-diameter borings and test pits for evaluating engineered fill and subsurface geology, and perform field activities, including site reconnaissance, soil and rock exploration, insitu testing and geophysical surveys. The Senior Staff Geologist will review and assist project managers with the accumulation and compilation of geotechnical data including background information, review and interpretation of aerial photographs, field logistics, subcontract management, and geological analysis. Duties will also include: providing assistance in geologic hazard evaluations and studies, reviewing and implementing technical protocols and procedures, traveling to job sites and meetings with regulators and third parties as required and performing other assigned tasks such as data compilation and report writing.


Education: B.A./B.S. in Geology or Geological Engineering required. M.S. preferred.

Required Skills: The successful candidate should have 2+ years of experience preferably with a geotechnical consulting firm performing the duties described above. Candidate should have a thorough understanding and knowledge of soils classification and excellent field mapping skills. Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Must be able to work both independently and as a team member. Knowledge of engineering geology is a plus.
