Our Donor Relations Specialist role is a perfect entry point into fundraising and philanthropy. You’ll play a key role in creating and growing our individual giving program. You’ll manage a portfolio of donors to raise $465,000 annually while learning and refining best practices in engagement, relationship management, and campaign strategy. As part of our Devo Team, you will play a key role in deepening connections with individual donors and inspiring greater financial support for the Theatre’s vision and mission.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in donor engagement, event support, and portfolio management while working as part of a collaborative, mission-driven team.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage a personal portfolio of small to mid-level donors in partnership with the Director of Development, and help design strategies that engage, retain, and upgrade donors to secure gifts totaling $465,000.
- Build, cultivate and steward a portfolio of annual fund donors, ensuring personalized engagement that makes each supporter feel valued.
- In collaboration and under the direction of the Director of Development, develop and implement a comprehensive plan for individual giving - with clear strategies for acquisition, retention and upgrades. Plan and execute regular touchpoints (calls, meetings, events, notes, digital outreach) to strengthen donor relationships.
- Track and report donor interactions in the CRM/database.
- Assist in the planning and execution of annual giving campaigns, including direct mail and digital appeals.
- Partner with the Marketing/Communications team to ensure donor messaging is clear and compelling.

Requirements
Skills and Abilities Required
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships quickly, with the appropriate level of assertiveness to engage, solicit, and follow up with donor prospects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate passionately about Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s mission.
- Collaborative and effective working on a small team with high accountability.
- Goal, results, and detail-oriented with exceptional planning and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in communications, nonprofit management, business, or related field required.
- Experience with CRMs is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to develop strategic solutions.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits - Starting salary is $44,000. Benefits include:
