General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

This role has responsibility for the management of all supply chain activities for the business with primary focus on safe execution of customer service levels/OTA, production planning/ capacity, and inventory deployment (working capital), and inventory accuracy (cycle count) Identify and execute cost savings plans and gross margin improvement in alignment with business objectives. Develop and maintain strategic initiatives for all raw material and finished good inventory to meet service levels and business objectives. Lead the SIOP processes to ensure collaboration between supply and demand organizations within business and execute plans.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the flow of customer orders from Customer Service to the manufacturing plants, ensuring that manufacturing location assignments are consistent with the maximizing service and profitability.
  • Manage the flow of materials to minimize SKU’s and maximize inventory turns.  Coordinate material purchasing requirements and execution between the plants and the corporate Procurement function. Train and mentor plant buyers to optimize procurement performance.
  • Coordinate Customer and Sales material and delivery requirements with Manufacturing to ensure alignment between manufacturing costs and pricing decisions.
  • Establish best practices for raw material ordering, ensuring availability while minimizing obsolescence and aged inventory.
  • Facilitate cross-functional inventory management discussions, assigning ownership and ensuring DSI goals are met.
  • Assist in diagnostic efforts that identify opportunities for profit improvement and complexity reduction in the product lines.
  • Participate in the development of the sales forecast and effectively distribute volume in accordance with key performance objectives
  • Use analytical techniques to help improve profitability.
  • Develop and maintain an Asset Utilization Strategy, providing the best overall combination of cost, on-time delivery, quality, lead-time, and ROIC.
  • Optimize production schedules across multiple manufacturing locations.  Determine and implement compay–wide policies for production scheduling.  Train and mentor plant schedulers to optimize day-to-day schedules.
  • Identify and execute lower cost freight options – built around planning and scheduling decisions
  • Lead the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to achieve focus, alignment and synchronization among all functions of the organization.
  • Achieve World-Class On Time Delivery to Promise and optimize On-Time Delivery to Request.
  • Coordination of Working Capital decisions – monitoring schedule moves as these moves relate to lower cost freight options and positioning and or movement of raw materials.
  • Provide insight to new product development to ensure successful product launch, particularly related to asset selection.
  • Assist in the development and execution of business process optimization opportunities including but not limited to areas such as regrind management, master planning, new production introduction (NPI), and material cost management via economic order quantities.
  • Work with Sales, Customer Service, and the plants to expeditiously resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Lead project teams to achieve goals
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, business, or related or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in production/master planning and scheduling, production methods, data collection and dissemination.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with an ERP system in a manufacturing business.
  • Minimum 5 years in business management capacity or related experience required, in a manufacturing operation. 
  • Experience using SAP ERP modules and systems, including the Order Entry process, Planning and Scheduling is desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of the MRP and various functions, preferably using SAP, pertaining to customer service, the order entry process and purchasing.  Must have a strong background in the manufacturing process and process capabilities.  Understanding products and customer requirements.
  • Expertise in ERP systems and database designs; knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial recordkeeping and reporting
  • Knowledge and skill with designing and writing reports from ERP or similar systems, preferably with SAP
  • Thorough knowledge of entire order processing data flow for a manufacturing business.
  • Ability to develop and present training for groups and for individuals
  • Ability to evaluate operations processes, and identify and implement actions to improve service, reduces costs, enhance employee performance, etc.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels and types of internal and external customers and co-workers, using various communication vehicles.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to provide vision, motivation ad inspiration to peers and subordinates. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, documents and manuals furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including discounts, rates, percentages and conversions.   
  • Expert with Microsoft office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
