Purpose: This position is responsible for the supervision of receiving/moving of material in a safe and efficient manner to locations for staging and shipping. The Group Leader is responsible for housekeeping and safety in his work environment.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
- Supervise the daily receiving and material handling functions in Dept. 200 and ensure F.I.F.O. principal is adhered to.
- Follow daily schedule and issue job assignments to employees.
- Coordinate with Shipping group leader to prepare truck driver schedule.
- Inspect locations assigned to his/her crew for cleanliness, damage, proper stacking and space utilization.
- Knowledge of the fire and security system and make sure all employees leave the building if fire alarm sounds.
- Maintain weekly production numbers for receipts and transfers of materials and broke processing.
- Report tardiness and absenteeism to the ADC supervision.
- Ensure broke in properly stored and available consumption.
- Take delivery appointments and prepare documentation for all material.
- Report any accidents immediately to supervision.
- Read, understand and follow Process Maps, work instructions.
- Understand and comply with departmental and job specific safety rules, as well as the Site Safety Plan. Comply with all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. Correct or identify any unsafe act or conditions to supervision.
- Responsible for reporting any mechanical defective parts or malfunctions to supervision and submit work orders as needed. Communicate daily process related problems to supervision and at shift change.
Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
High school
Basic Math skills
Read and write English
Previous experience as Group Leader or
5 years of Material Handler IV preferred
- Ability to utilize ASSIST.
- Be able to multi-task and communicate effectively with other departments.
- Must be able to operate hand-held RF scanners and be aware of packaging problems.
- Must be able to upgrade job skills through participation in periodic training programs as available.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform similar job functions in other areas.
- Must have leadership skills and supervise other employees with minimal supervision.
- Must have knowledge of various types of load bracing for all types of shipments.
- Provide on the job training for crewmembers.
- Able to operate a lift truck with various attachments.
- Understand and comply with ADC spill containment guidelines.
- Utilization of AS400 for inquiry, shop order receipts and allocations.
